Ethan P. Flynn's debut album is home to a nicely varied sound palette. Eclectic at the least, and musically mature, P. Flynn has a knack for very well performed and structured feats. Vocally very James Blake, while Squid's Ollie Judge also finds himself manifested through P. Flynn, a yearning for more sits center to the records sound.

Abandon All Hope is quite a personal album. The feeling that these tracks mean a lot is apparent. The effort put in to position each element is astounding, carefully constructed. Like a watchmaker with sound, Ethan P. Flynn intricately builds spaces which tell the time in an introspective manner. The emotions that tick away minute-by-minute require a way to be understood. Observation(outward and inward introspection) being a conduit for channeling the rumbling sea of thoughts - a dash of perspective settles the soul.

Many tracks have a smokey feel, they wisp up and out of Ethan P. Flynn. Gradually building and bustling with instrumental life, the feeling is organic; natural; there's no rush. It falls into the slow-burning category at times. A windswept approach to song structure renders it breeze-y, effortlessly spacious. Things unfurl and, in many ways, playfully find their feet.

Unsure of one's place in the world, each day brings with it a different world view. The inconsistencies can be put down to complexity, but there must be a through line that will pull me towards where things need to be. Something that cuts out the middle man, trims the fat, and delivers straight to the real thing. If only this mind would interact with what's in front of it, and not what's been placed inside of it. Tangled up in blue. Uncertainly certain. The culprit and the victim. Your actions, your consequences. There is no other way. There's nothing to do and nothing to say, and that's alright.
