George Clanton - Ooh Rap I Ya

100% Electronica

It has been five years since George Clanton psychedelically slid through with 'Slide'. Down the chute and out the other side in glorified fashion, trailed by a slow-churning, cacophonous chill. Drenched in a damp, reverberated aesthetic - reverb that ripples to shore, and far beyond - 'Ooh Rap I Ya' lathers itself in a sludge-like ooze; an ooze which only gets thicker as things proceed.

The somewhat simple, yet utterly sophisticated, spheres of George Clanton meet their most recent channeling in the form of Ooh Rap I Ya. Thawing in the evening sun, Ooh Rap I Ya comes undone like ice cream on a wafer cone. Dripping in splotches and ever-so-slowly returning to its essence, Ooh Rap I Ya sinks in to itself; swallows itself in blissful stupor. An inward dive of infinite depth, the light at the end of the tunnel only leads to further lights - though the tunnel remains the same. Chasing the dragon down the back of your hands. They're the only hands you've ever known, but are they even yours? The train tracks look familiar, though the map doesn't line up anymore. It's out by miles.

The floor is warped - it somehow moves for you in a liquefied flow. Walking on air. Suffocating in the bright breeze. The outside shimmers in a gleaming sheen - the cleaners been busy. Wax poetic on essences external characteristics - polished to the nth degree. Living a slippery existence - slip-n-slide through the good, as well as the bad. Hard to grasp; hard to even begin to comprehend. The door opens as it closes. Spinning on its axis in swirling synchronicity. Don't let it hit you on your way out. Thrust into the afterlife.

Baggy eyelids and perforated souls. Bucket hats and sense of better days to come - though they may already be upon us. Whether that's a tangible phenomenon will reveal itself as things move on - only time will tell; if it can find the words. For you, it will.

Sink into yourself. It will feel foreign at first, but you'll grow to like it.
