Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
Warner Bros.
Maybe the greatest thing to result from conflict since the dawn of time, Fleetwood Mac's eleventh studio album is a child of fall outs and breakups - the usual human antics, but the output from this time is something of a special nature. Perfect, in all of its possible meanings, pop music.
From a production standpoint Rumours is immaculate - pristine, clean and crystal clear. Rumours is the kind of album that's enhanced by a superior ear for musicianship and a feeling out of space that requires additional ingredients. Everything serves a purpose in the grander scheme of things. It's the kind of record that seperates the boys from the men - nuance adds the most intricate of details greatly.
Fleetwood Mac's magnum opus would go on to become one of the highest selling records of all time, and it's no wonder why. As aforementioned, Rumours is THE perfect pop album. Laced with smooth melodies, singable hooks - refer to 'Dreams' for example - earworm instrumentation and a band thats on top of their game in all possible facets, Fleetwood Mac ventured down all the right avenues and emotive pressure points.
