Tropical Fuck Storm's(TFS's) third album in four years sees the Australian Noise Rock/Art Punk collective push their forthright lunacy to the brink of near collapse on latest release 'Deep States'. Riotous feelings of restless creativity emanate from it's core.

TFS are a band that keep their material structurally sound, but spice up their sound with fruitful ideas, tones and intense out there-ness - what we have come to expect from the TFS camp - on their latest release 'Deep States'. Obscurities lace the tracklist - batshit demented - keeping well in tune with the TFS world, and make for a compelling project abundant with earworm hooks and interesting takes on the norm.

The closing moments of 'Legal Ghost' may just be the most brilliant piece of material released so far this year. Mysteriously beautiful and psychedelically hued it swirls into infinite cacophony - dwelling deep into repetitive bliss. Released as a single in 2020 it was a surprise to see it on the tracklist, although the hopes that it would strongly persisted. Legal Ghost turned out to be even more hard-hitting and well represented within the context of the album. Some things belong in a bigger picture regardless of the power of their solo presence. Serving as the penultimate track on Deep States it packs a sentiment that it could only hold within the collective of other material.

TFS are here to stay. Deep States spills with quirks and character, adding to and solidifying further the universe in which their previous two projects built the foundations of - a world where anything goes and nothing's too out there to be judged or incorporated. This Aussie collective are making some of the most compelling and refreshing music on the contemporary landscape. Long live TFS!
