Grim Streaker - MIND EP

Grim Streaker - Mind EP. Mothland Records.

Female fronted New York post-punk outfit 'Grim Streaker' let off their groove inflicted etiquette on their latest release, the 'Mind' EP. Following in the footsteps of bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees, Liquid Liquid, and LCD Soundsystem, Grim Streaker apply an urgent sense of movement to their sound through danceable tunes with a punk twist. The rebellious edge that the band put on show, and venture down, ties in nicely with the New York aesthetic - sometimes nasty, sometimes classy. You never know what side of the City will turn up. The homemade style of the EP helps to make it seem as if anyone can produce its results. It's enticing to think so, but much harder than it seems. These guys don’t necessarily have their own lane, but they have the potential to create their own lane.

Original? No. Fresh? Yes.

Touches of electronic manipulation add a layer of sophistication to the already fairly packed frame that the band muster up. Though they're simple in their technicalities, you often find that it's the most simple of things that conjure up the most complex of thoughts and feelings.
