Bruiser & Bicycle - Holy Red Wagon

Albany, New York, collective, Bruiser & Bicycle, flick wrists at indie rock and splash psychedelia in to the already woozy mix. Names such as Doug Martsch, and his forever young features, Animal Collective and the more folk-y, as well as the inherent psychedelic affliction, side of their repertoire, and Supertramp with their skyward whines, come to the tip of the tongue when listening to this record. It's an indulgent listen; though a shiny, shy and surreptitiously delightful bout of jangly indie goodness.

A fun-house of sounds, Holy Red Wagon is unpredictable, but in the best way possible. Things don't just happen for the sake of it - things are well-worked and well-maneuvered. There’s a delicate undertow to the wide array of sounds put on display. It's easy to get swept away in to the world of Holy Red Wagon. Take your hands off of the wheel and let it take the reigns. You'll gladly go where it goes. Serenely windswept, at times windswept with a swing in step, Bruiser & Bicycle lavishly drift on by. Like a daydream, a smoothness radiates from the way things unfold. Things that once went unnoticed - under the radar - will soon make perfect sense.

Holy Red Wagon shimmers and pivots. There's many minute details; secretive sounds to explore. Images of little model villages come to mind. Worker ants getting on with their busy body business. We work all day with no complaints. Built for purpose. On a path that guarantees fulfillment; the sun shines just for you. The sky open wide with welcome arms. Always there to be turned to. The potential to sink in to it a forever option. The breeze caresses the skin. Warms the heart. Cools the soul.

Warm. Sweet. Twee. Three words that wrap Holy Red Wagon up under a sky of peach-fuzz and shades of orange hue. The Summer days that you thought would last forever have come to an end - time away is more than welcome.
