Ramper - Solo postres
Humo Internacional
Granada's Ramper made waves in my mind in 2020 with the release of their debut Neustros mejores deseos. Four years removed, Ramper set sail once again with album number two Solo postres. Their captivating knack for elongating the changing seasons into sonic form tells me, us, that great care, love and attention to detail goes into their material. At this stage of a bands career/discography it's the usual to say that they have "matured". You could indeed say that Ramper have matured, but they were already at a mature stage from the jump.
A combing through of the psyche - the beautiful and the barren - and the peeling back of the eyes - everything they see and subsequently don't see. Indebted to post-rock/slowcore, the Spaniards harness the long song format and take the time they require to convey what they feel. With the patience to build comes the power to last. Gentle strength. A peaceful mindset on stormy seas. This could be the end, but that's alright. Wave after crushing wave. Soft souls. Emotional beings brew, stew, suffer beneath the calm. Calm but confident. Confidence in the self defies confidence in everyone, everything else. Seductively decorated and plastered with perpetual vitality, Solo postres allures your spirit and demands your attention. Sounds drifts on minute shifts of energy. A twinkle in the eye is enough to move a mountain.
A peaceful, slow-hummed Cowboy Western. Introspective outlaws. Aware of their wrongdoings and eager to put things back in their rightful place. The order, no matter how chaotic things become, can return to a place of stability. A place of tear-inducing awareness. Under it all but a part nonetheless. The weight. Wishes against the wind. The inescapable you.
A caressing cold hand. The month-long hot rub of new boots. The slow process to wear them in, to bend them to your being. Flailing around, lost in the wet leaves. Damp foliage and forgotten, fizzled-out memories. The thousand-year-sleep. All the connections between dreams washed away. A blank slate to begin again.
A must for fans of post-rock and slowcore-type material, Solo postres is out now via Humo Internacional.
